The class fee includes starter clay, a tool kit (new students only), and four extra hours of studio time per week.


MONDAY:
Hand-building Techniques  SORRY, SOLD  OUT!
6:00pm – 9:00pm

Starts: September 5

Hand-building is a great way to learn about clay and the wide range of possibilities it offers. Students in this class will become familiar with the basic methods of construction: pinch, coil, and slab, to create functional and decorative wares in clay. Various surface texturing and glazing techniques will be explored to allow individual creativity and pursuits. All levels are welcome.

TUESDAY:
Foundation/Advanced Beginner Wheel Throwing  SORRY, SOLD  OUT!

Starts: September 6

Basic wheel throwing techniques will be emphasized from centering to shaping a vessel to create various forms such as bowls, plates, etc. Glazing techniques will also be shown to finish your work. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced potter, you are welcome to join this class.

WEDNESDAY:
Hand-building in Clay  SORRY, SOLD  OUT!
9:30am – 12:30pm

Starts: September 7

Using the three methods of hand-building: pinch, coil, and slab, students will develop strong techniques to create pieces in stoneware. Students will be creating functional pieces such as vases, containers, platters, and various ceramic ware.

* Class Level /Skills Recommended

A. Intro to Wheel /Foundation: No experience needed. Repetition recommended
B. Advanced Beginner: wedging, centering, opening, pulling a cylinder and/or small bowl
C. Intermediate: all of B; larger vessels, lids/ spouts/ handles, trimming, fundamentals of glazing
D. Advanced: all of C; bottles, plates, composite forms, throwing off the hump


Cancellation Policy:

*A $50 cancellation fee will be charged.*

Once the session has started no refunds will be issued.

**Tuition fees may not be transferred to another class.
***The Brick is not responsible for providing make-up classes or issuing refunds to students who miss class for any reason.


STUDIO GUIDELINES: You must show proof of being fully vaccinated i.e., two weeks following a two-dose vaccination or two weeks following a one-dose vaccination. The CDC vaccination card or the NY Excelsior pass will be used to confirm vaccination status. Masks are optional.
